packing and praying
This morning during a time of worship with the cohort here in BS10.
Tony and I both has words of encouragement through prayer...
For Tony - Be bold and strong for the Lord your God is with you. Do not be frightened or dismayed. Joshua 1:1-9.
For Nikki - Let not your heart be troubled, rest in my unchanging love. I have not left you or disowned you. I am always with you, do not be afraid. I will speak through you in Uganda, you will hear my voice.
For those who know us well God has spoken to Tony through Joshua 1 on a number of occasions!
and for me...
this has been my prayer of preparation for the trip - that God will speak through me, and I will hear His voice...
Awesome!

Getting closer!
If you Google Namirembe Guest House Kampala Uganda, you will see where we are staying on Friday night. It will be very late when we arrive - it may even be the early hours of Saturday morning.
We have a 3.30 am start on Friday...it is going to be a long day.
(I am going to take some essay reading for the flight!)

Uganda links at Trinity
Today we met Alex Kagume and his wife Ellen. Alex is the Deputy Vice Chancellor at Uganda Christian University.
They have been staying at Trinity College for a couple of days. We had lunch together - Alex gave us some very practical information.
I asked about the parish system in the church of Uganda, it seems to work slightly differently to ours, I'm looking forward to finding out more...
From what I can gather there will be heavy rain at times, Alex suggested we do not go for a walk in it!
He also said mossies are a fact of life, and although he hardly ever sees a snake, there is nothing to say it won't be the first thing we see!
I think Sonja does not like snakes :-)
We prayed for safe travel for Alex and Ellen as they continue on to the USA and then travel back home,
we hope to meet them in Uganda on 11th April.
Praise the Lord \0/

11 days to go!
Lifts are being arranged, I have everything ticked off of Sonja's kit list, there may be a bit of room left in my case for clothes!
Suzanne and I went shopping on Saturday for presents to take for our host families and the children - it all seems very real and I'm getting a few butterflies...
Tony and I have travelled all over the world but it's always been 5 star - so this will be a first!
This is not the first time we have intentionally traveled as Christians. In 2008 we went to work for the 2nd Baptist Church in Varna Bulgaria, we shared our faith by working along side the Christians at that Church, as we scrubbed and cleaned the building in preparation for the opening and dedication of a new church for Varna.
I am excited about sharing my faith in another completely different context. I am hungry to encounter God and His people in Uganda - to be challenged and changed by the whole experience.
Bring it on!
